Divi Southwinds tours - you’ll never be bored
Barbados is worth exploring, either in a rental car or with a taxi-driver guide. Unlike many Caribbean islands, Barbados has fair roads. They are, however, poorly signposted, and newcomers invariably get lost -- not only once, but several times. If you lose your way, you'll generally find people in the countryside helpful. Hiking is a popular recreation, leading Barbados visitors through cane fields, gullies, tropical forests and coastal communities to explore the unique geological and social structure of Barbados. Guided hikes by "Hike Barbados" are FREE but donations are welcome towards the work of the Barbados National Trust (preserving our built and natural environment) and Treading Lightly (problem-solving for sustainability). Historical tours are popular with visitors to Barbados. Barbados has a rich history and has preserved and restored many of its historic buildings. Visit a plantation house for a trip back in time, see the towering lighthouses that once led ships to safety, or explore the historic towns that are an important part of our past and present. There is now a new and fascinating way to sightsee Barbados. Bajan Helicopters, Bridgetown heliport, St. Michaels, offers a tour that involves soaring in an air-conditioned jet 48km (30 miles) over either saw-toothed cliffs and animal-shaped rocks or ultramarine boats floating on serene beaches, depending on which coast you are touring. The helicopter seats up to five people and tours last 20 to 30 minutes. We recommend bringing cameras and camcorders so you can share this experience with friends. The cost is US$140 to US$180 per person.
